As social network website like Facebook, Flicker, and twitter are getting more and more in popularity and users continue tagging their photos, privacy issue is main concern for these social communities because it is important for user to have a safe and comfortable environment.
Sharing photo is a common feature of many social network sites and it allows users to upload their photos to share with friends or to public. Unfortunately, sometimes it is not a safe to share photo with others, not only can photos be stolen and used by strangers, but many photos, especially those taken by phones or devices with GPS technology, contain tags that reveal their location, which means viewers can figure out where exactly they were snapped. In other words, it is easy to gather the photo’s owner information such as where he/she lives and what is he/she hobby.
When I found out that by having your GPS on while taking a photo could lead to location disclosure when posting on social media sites, I completely freaked out! I immediately turned the GPS off and haven't turned it on since! I have a son and beautiful nephews, nieces, and god children who I do NOT want the world to know their location where their pictures were taken.
ReplyDeleteThis is a major issue and I pray that many people see this, and turn their settings off as well!
